Iron as an aphrodisiac is mostly due to its importance as a circulation promoter to aid blood flow getting to essential body parts. It also increases and helps maintain energy levels, improves muscle function, builds concentration and regulates body temperature.

When creating aphrodisiacs, I try to avoid using heavy foods rich in iron such as red meat (at least in large amounts), and lean more towards lighter fish, lentils, soy products, sprouts, whole grains, dried fruits (who knew?), parsley, and leafy greens.
